Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 17, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how OpenTennis ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on https://opentennis.net. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your preferences, keep you logged in, and understand how you interact with the service.

We also use localStorage for session-related data that does not leave your browser.

2. Cookie Categories We Use

2.1 Essential Cookies

These cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function. They cannot be disabled.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — these are required for core service functionality.

2.2 Analytics Cookies (Consent Required)

These cookies are only set after you accept analytics cookies in the consent banner. They help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.

NameProviderPurposeExpires

posthog_opt_inPostHog (EU Cloud)Records your PostHog opt-in status1 year

Provider: PostHog — data is stored on EU servers (Frankfurt). PostHog is GDPR-compliant and processes data under a Data Processing Agreement.

Analytics traffic proxy: We use PostHog's Managed Proxy feature. When enabled, analytics network requests are routed through Cloudflare infrastructure before reaching PostHog. Cloudflare acts as a subprocessor listed in PostHog's Data Processing Agreement and may process this traffic using infrastructure in multiple or dynamically assigned geographic locations. By accepting analytics cookies you acknowledge this routing. Cloudflare does not receive your PostHog analytics data beyond what is necessary to forward the request.

Legal basis: Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time (see Section 4).

3. Cookies We Do NOT Use

  • Marketing / advertising cookies — we do not run retargeting or ad networks
  • Social media tracking pixels — no Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, etc.
  • Third-party profiling cookies

4. Managing Your Consent

You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time by clicking the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer, or by clearing your browser cookies (this will reset the banner on your next visit).

When you decline analytics cookies:

  • PostHog is not initialised and no analytics data is collected
  • Essential cookies remain active

When you accept analytics cookies:

  • PostHog is initialised and begins recording anonymised page views and interactions
  • No personally identifiable information is sent to PostHog

5. Browser Cookie Controls

All major browsers allow you to manage cookies via their settings:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Note: disabling essential cookies may break login and other core features.
